Inclusivity
We create an environment where Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing people worship and serve side by side.
Winnipeg Church of the Deaf has grown as a place where communication is clear, fellowship is genuine, and Christ's love is shared across the Deaf and hearing community.
Mission: To serve the spiritual needs of the Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing community of Winnipeg through inclusive, ASL-led worship and fellowship.
Vision: A welcoming spiritual home where every person, regardless of hearing ability, experiences the love of Christ.
Winnipeg Church of the Deaf began in 1938 as an inter-denominational effort to ensure Deaf worshippers could gather in a setting shaped around clear visual communication and shared faith. Over time, the ministry became a spiritual anchor for Deaf families, hard-of-hearing adults, and hearing supporters who wanted a church home where accessibility was central rather than secondary.
As the congregation matured, its work expanded beyond weekly services. Bible study, fellowship meals, seasonal worship gatherings, and pastoral support became an essential part of community life. The church developed a reputation for warmth, practical care, and a commitment to making every gathering understandable and participatory.
Now located at 285 Pembina Hwy., the church continues that same purpose while serving new generations. Its ministry also reaches beyond the city through Camp Kakepitary, connecting worship, outdoor recreation, and Christian encouragement. Across decades of change, the church has remained focused on one calling: creating a welcoming spiritual home where the Deaf community can worship, belong, and grow in Christ together.
We create an environment where Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing people worship and serve side by side.
Christ-centred teaching, prayer, and worship remain the heart of our life together.
Fellowship is more than attendance. We cultivate belonging, encouragement, and practical care.
We seek opportunities to uplift the wider Deaf community through ministry, hospitality, and outreach.
